I love this place, I have been coming here since my kids were little(they are 26 and 21 now.) Even though we moved out of the area , if I come through Castro Valley in the morning I make it a point to go to Rudy's Donuts they are hands down the best donuts . The ladies that work there are very friendly and make you feel at home as soon as you walk in. My favorite is the maple bar.

I grew up down the street from Stans Donuts in Santa Clara which absolutely ruined me for any donuts that is not Stans, because they are unbelievably amazing and if you’ve been there you’ll know what I mean, they’re very different than your typical donut. I recently moved to Castro Valley looking for something that might get close because everywhere else usually disappoints and Rudy’s is the best donuts I’ve ever had other than Stans! They are delicious, nice staff, easy service, so happy I found them!

Great doughnuts, worst coffee ever! I stopped in noticing it looked like a great classic coffee and doughnut place. I ordered a Mapletwist doughnut, and an iced cappuccino. The doughnut was wonderful and I would highly recommend stopping in for a doughnut. The coffee however, I didn’t have high expectations for a small old donut place. Yet, they managed to disappoint my very low expectations by a longshot. It tasted like the espresso machine not only had bargain coffee, but stale old bargain coffee, and probably not cleaned correctly. It just tasted like stale coffee build up. Gross, and could not finish.

I have heard legendary stories from my customers of how great their donuts were. Almost 2 years in the east bay, I walked in to witness the hype in person. Those customers werent making it up. Their donuts are the best I've had. Im assuming the lady that greeted me on my arrival was the owner and she did a fabulous job bagging my donuts. I ve heard its family owned and run for a couple decades or more and I see why they have a fan base that talk of their donuts given the opportunity. If you in town, its one of your must visit places on your checklist. I promise you will love the atmosphere, people and the donuts at that establishment.

One of my favorite donut shops in the East Bay. My mom used to take me here as a kid, and the donuts still taste amazing! The family that runs this place has their own recipe for their delicious donuts and icing. I feel that Rudy's has a one of a kind taste that you cannot find anywhere else! I hope this place is here for generations to come.

This place hits the spot for morning walks! Especially if you are a donut and chocolate milk kind of personality. There's plenty of space to sit and will always profoundly smell like donuts for 24 hours.Check out their wooden cash register---it's ridiculously awesome!If you ever decide to take their cinnamon rolls to your house I'd recommended zapping them in the microwave for 18 seconds and they will taste 10 times better!

This place is a classic. They have been around forever! But with good quality comes price too. So be ready to cash out for some doughnuts.

Iconic family run business, with amazing fresh donuts, and a welcoming atmosphere. A cut above the standard donut place that was a mandatory visit most weekends for years before we moved away. Their baked cinnamon rolls had me daydreaming all week.

a local landmark whose fame does not compensate for the dull edged abstractions in blandness represented by it's donuts. friendly staff and very reasonable prices but the product quality is scarcely a half notch above krispy kreme. would still recommend this place above buying donuts at the grocery store. it is worth noting that they were out if three basic items by ten am. they are trying...just not hard enough.

Nearly sold out by 10:30 on a Saturday. I guess that means they have brisk business and are avoiding waste, but I think it's a disservice to be out of sprinkle doughnuts at that time. Kids want sprinkles! They could improve their environmental impact for sure: still using styrofoam cups for coffee and water. A small coffee 1.75. Donut 1.50.

I can’t believe this place is still open. I was just telling my kids how my grandpa (J. Dalpe), who was friends with Rudy, would pay me $20 to help them make doughnuts all night until early morning. This was over 30 years ago. My kids googled it, and low an behold, Rudy’s is still here. If memory serves me right, back then it was Rudy’s Winchell’s Doughnut House I will never forget some of the best childhood memories I had with my grandpa making doughnuts from 10:30pm to sun up. I wish the family and the businesses the best.

I love love love this place! My favorite is the butterfly, but their fritter is great too, and their Maple bars, and their old fashion, and this one and that one. In other words, GREAT FREAKING DONUTS!The staff is also really good, they are very nice friendly women, sometimes their kids are in there helping out. Best donuts in CV!
